„Think outside of the box“

„Christmas in an art case“ – When artists get creative

Some people think of „Christmas in an Art case (shoebox)“ as „the action at Christmas season where people pack shoeboxes with several things“. This happening runs all year round – and you can get involved in many ways. Packing shoeboxes is just one of many ways. That’s why so many join in – because every talent and every passion is needed. Philipp’s passion for art, for example.

The distribution campaign is there to make contact with people and to convey a message of humanity, enthusiasm as well as charity. We reject any kind of proselytizing or manipulation. For us, this gift campaign was about creative and colorful charity.

Christmas art case

Philipp Netolitzky founded the artist platform iOnArt, which is headquartered in Vienna. The love for art, sports and music are motivator and driving force for the artist conglomerate, who want to improve life through creativity and art. „Art, sports and music are a mirror of society, our world and sense of ourselves. It is a way to make our dreams come true and change the world. […] It’s a tool to express everything you want – feelings, politics, fear, rebellion, wildness, loneliness, past, future, nature, adventure, peace, happiness in life and love.“

As an artist, the Austrian looks at things with a different angle. When he found a „Christmas in a Shoebox“ flyer in his mailbox, it started rattling around in his head. But his thoughts didn’t go in the direction of how he could pack shoeboxes, but how he could use his passion for art and the miracle that art brings people together for the gift-giving campaign.

Active all year

In the meantime, the Viennese artist is already planning which groups he can creatively embellish shoeboxes with this year. He is sure – everyone has talents that can become a blessing to others. As an artist, he is looking at a project that can change children’s lives.

With which view do you look at „Christmas in an art case“? As an athlete? As a musician? As a hobbyist? As a driver? As a project manager? As a dentist? As a photographer? As a pastor? As a blogger? Where do your passions and the gift campaign meet? Send us an email and let’s use it to motivate others. Because „Christmas in an art case“ is so much more than packing shoeboxes.

Artistically designing cardboard boxes

The longer he stared at the flyer, the more often his eyes roamed over the shoebox. Where others saw simply a means of transportation or a gift box, he recognized a canvas. Art brings color to life and gives hope and creates connections. Who, if not needy children, need all this?

„You could also design the lid so that the children can hang it up as a picture and bring color to their dwelling,“ Philipp thought, before pulling out all the stops to put these thoughts into action with others. Because more create more. And sooner than expected, empty shoeboxes were procured and art colleagues were found to join in.

Pictures, melodies and movements evoke emotions in us and sometimes make us wonder how someone can express what we ourselves feel.

And because it is about feelings and messages, everyone could participate. And so, without further ado, the artist brought shoeboxes to the homeless shelter. Families were mobilized, children, artists, school classes – the motto was: Get creative for disadvantaged children. Express yourself! Bring color, emotion and hope to those who need it!
