The Australian artist Anthony Lister was in Vienna for the first time in 2016 and took our city into his heart. He left us a gift. In collaboration with, MuseumsQuartier Wien and Jan Arnold Gallery we could film an interview with Anthony.
The pioneer of stencil and street art movement in Australia moved to New York in 2003 and developed a differentiated, unmistakable, painterly style from his street-style roots. In his paintings, sculptures and installations high culture and mass culture are culminating. Rude superheroes, sexy ballet dancers, bad-tempered gentlemen and authoritative vamps are the protagonists in his controversial visual worlds, which have already been shown in solo exhibitions in Sydney, Miami, New York, London, Los Angeles or Hong Kong.
